New York: Day 2

Our second day was jam packed with activities. To start off our day we woke up really early and headed to the Doughnut Plant for breakfast. They have so many different doughnuts to choose from that we decided we would have to go more than once. The first time we got a chocolate, vanilla bean, vanilla bean with jam, and a creme brûlée. The creme brûlée was my favorite of the whole trip. We then walked around and explored. We passed some really beautiful architecture and buildings and made our way up to Times Square. Then we rented bikes and biked the 12 mile loop in central park. We took a break in the middle of it to sit on a bench and take some pictures and relax.

Gotta love those sock tan lines. :)

After our bike ride, we just explored more for a little bit. We passed Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, and a bunch of food trucks. We tried an empanada from one and an apple cinnamon crepe from another truck. Then we stopped for more lunch at au bon pain and ate the yummiest corn chowder! I want more of that right about now.

We stopped at the Rockefeller Center again and they had a Farmer's Market going on. Everything looked so good! After that, we headed into St. Patricks Cathedral for a minute. I love gothic architecture and inside was amazing. Sadly, it was being renovated while we were there so the entire outside was covered with scaffolding and most of the inside but I was able to get a few pictures.

Beautiful ceilings.

Grand Central Station

We went on top of the Empire State Building and just as you would imagine, it was much more crowded than I would have liked but still fun to see all of New York on all four sides. After that, we did some shopping and went to the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park. I have heard a lot about this place from people and we were surprised when we saw the line. I think we waited a good 45 minutes in line to order. It was good but overpriced and not even close to Red Robin. :) The servings were small but I'd say the vanilla shake was a little above average. Anyway, the rest of our night was relaxed as we took our time walking back to our hotel.
